Another one bites the 'Fairy Dust'

Tooth number 11, has been turned into fairy dust from Brittany. And she couldn't be more excited. She has lost more teeth than any kids in her class by far, and even more than the fourth graders in the neighborhood. Don't worry, she already knows she's Big Time!
And notice the addition of bangs--yikes! She has begged me for months, so I finally had to give in. She loves them, feel like a true Diva. My horror is her awful cowlick doesn't lend kindly to bangs, but hey, can't reason everything with a 2nd grader. 'Relax mother (ME) it's just hair, it will eventually grow back!'

Spring Break- Girls Week!

Spring Break was quickly approaching, and we couldn't get the boys to commit, so they left us no choice---Girls Week it is. The girls and I, Meri and Solee, Barbara and Presleigh all headed down to St. George for the week. Fun times were had by all, swimming, feeding the ducks, watching movies, more swimming, yummy dinners and ice cream, 'shakin' our bodies' with Elmo, visiting friends, a little shopping, and did I mention more swimming. The girls would all have been happy to send every moment in the pool. So thank you hubbies and daddies for letting us go, we missed you but really enjoyed our 'girls rule, get over it' time.

Paige lost her 1st tooth!

Toothless!
All Done!

Daddy at work, Paige being brave!

Making prep phone calls

On Friday, Paige was busy in her morning routine (watching cartoons), when she noticed something was wrong with her tooth. Brittany was quick to investigate, only to find out that indeed Paige's tooth was loose. So after a little pep talk, phone calls to Mam-maw and Aunt Amber, and much preparation (who knew pulling a tooth required so much prep), Paige and Daddy were ready. One tug and it was out, quick and painless. Paige was SO excited, and for those of you who have ever seen Paige in pure delight fashion, you know what that involves. Her excitement, excites everyone! She had to hurry and make all her 'results' phone calls, and then off we went to show Jayden, Grandma and Grandpa and even to school to show Brittany and her preschool teacher. Some thing just can't wait, especially for Paige. That night, Paige was brave enough to put her tooth under her pillow (Brittany has a slight problem with that part), and the tooth fairy left $5! Many people have offered to pull out their teeth for a chance to meet that tooth fairy.
Truly, a day to remember in Paige's life!

Fingers or thumb? that is the question

Thumb!
Fingers!
From about 5 months old, Caroline has LOVED her silky and her fingers! Never one without the other. However, a few weeks ago Caroline fingers got smashed in a friends front door. Bruised, bloody, a big disgusting mess, and of course no one knows what happened, so we can blaming the 'wind' for the mishap. Needless to say, sucking her fingers was not an option. The first night after the accident involved 2 hours of crying of "my fingers, it's awie to suck my fingers"--'yeah, yeah, believe us we wish you could suck them too!' was our response. Brent and I were some what excited that the finger sucking habit may be broken. Much to our dismay, during the night Caroline had found her THUMB!!! Now she has options! Great, we may never get rid of the habit of silkies, fingers and now thumb, but that is not necessarily a bad thing because they bring a lot of peace and comfort to Caroline and others around her as well.

Conference weekend creation

'Lacy Bug'- created by Brittany and Paige

I love conference weekend, forl the obvious reasons like much a needed spiritual boost, inspired instruction and direction, refocusing priorities, sustaining living prophets, and etc...., but also for an excuse to have lazy weekend; no commitments, stay in my PJ's all day and just be at home with my family. I prepared for the uplifting weekend by having yummy treats and a wonderful conference packet for kids. ( I was certain this would entertain Paige and Brittany.) Yeah, right!
The packet and treats did serve their purpose, but not for as long as we had hoped. Being at home for 2 days, with Brent and I planted in front of the TV is NOT the most ideal for our children. We came up with as many projects and creations as possible, and a trip to the park between sessions to pass the time. Lacy Bug was the hands down winner, the creators are so proud! (and so were mom and dad for the time it took to create) We enjoyed conference and all the chaos that it involved, and Elder Ballard talk reconfirmed that I have the Best (and hardest) job in the world of being a MOM! I am eternally grateful for the blessing and challenge.

I have repented--3 hours of church on Sunday is NOT a bad time. If we can survive the first hour wrestling match, then we enjoy 2 hours of bliss. I will never complain again.

A side note--- Elder D. Todd Christofferson is a family friend from the time he and his family spent in Charlotte in the early 90's. Great man, good family and now an apostle of God, very exciting!

We want to be kitty cats!

Jayden and Paige---Cutest kitty cats in town!

Paige and her best friend Jayden wanted to pretend to be cats. To play pretend, you have to look the part. To best achieve their goal, they chose a Sharpie pen to paint their 'kitty cat faces'. Not the best choice obviously. After much scrubbing, this is the best Lisa (dear friend and Jayden's mom) could do. It took a few days and a lot more scrubbing, but finally all resemblances of kitty cats was gone!

It's obvious, I'm new at this!

I may get an A for effort, but I receive a failing grade for not having a clue what I am doing. So to all my expert bloggers I plead, HELP ME!!! I don't want all my posts to look ridiculous. First of many questions? How do I get my pictures where I want them and not just randomly placed. Where do I put everyone elses blog links? Hey, I am fine will admitting this is all new to me and I am computer illiterate. DUH!

Happy 40th Birthday Daddy!

Brent turned the Big 40 in January. I know we all had more fun celebrating than he did. We do what we can to help keep him young at heart! His actual birthday started out with breakfast in bed, prepared by the girls, a banana, almonds and water--breakfast of champions. Daddy loved it. Then bowling and dinner and Brent thought the celebrating was over. Little did he know, his big SURPRISE party was yet to come. There was a minor medical emergency the day of his party, so a HUGE thank you to all who pitched in to help me pull it off. We had the perfect excuse to get him there and he bought it hook, line and sinker! He was completely surprised!!! (Yeah, because I am a terrible liar.) Many of our friends and family was there to celebrate with us. It was a night we won't forget. Best news of all, he actually enjoyed and he didn't even threaten divorce!
